Parents Pages

Homework: Your child will have a literacy or topic and numeracy homework to complete each week.  All homework will now be set on a Friday and collected in on a Wednesday

Sometimes homework will be 'Education City', or research, or a game.  It is a good idea if homework can be shared and worked on with you.

Homework will not be given during assessment weeks and during the first and last weeks of term.

Spelling: Your child will be learning a spelling rule (e.g. 'igh' as in sigh, high etc) each week.  They should try to find as many examples of words containing their rule in preparation for a spelling test on a Thursday.  There will be no spelling list.

Reading: Your child will be given or will choose a reading book.  It is expected that they read for at least 10-15 minutes each day.  Your child will be expected to share their opinions and comment on what they have read each week.

X-tables: Your child will be tested on their times-tables on Monday every week.

The William Gilpin School PTA are seeking more parents to join this important group. For more information please contact Alison:

It has been the custom for William Gilpin children's birthdays to be announced in 'The Bridge' (Parish Magazine) but for this to continue, because of data protection issues we need written parental consent. So if you wish your child's birthday to be included in 'The Bridge' could you please complete and return a consent form?
